| **M.S. Minor:** Minimum of 6 credits at the graduate level (Physics 4001, 4002, 4101, 4201 and 4303 are explicitly excluded) to include either Physics 5001 or 5011. The selected courses must also be approved by the DGS of the student's department. |

**M.S. Minor:** Must pass by fall of the second year. **Ph.D. Minor:** File as soon as possible after passing the graduate written examination and selecting a research adviser. The program must be filed at least one month before the Preliminary Oral Examination. | For those filing a Graduate Degree Plan, in both cases, the Director of Graduate studies needs to sign the Graduate Degree Plan form (in the minor box), and a Physics faculty member must be included in both the Preliminary Oral Exam, and in the final dissertation oral defense. |
