To follow up from the September announcement on various software packages moving into “modules”, the old symbolic links in /usr/local/bin are now being removed.

If a package you expect to work suddenly doesn't, please check the modules system!

Since September we have also added some further packages from the Redhat “Software Collections” system and imported these into the modules system.

These mostly include new versions of packages otehrwise provided by the base OS:

• python 2.7 and python 3.3
• git 1.9
• gcc, g++ and gfortran 4.9.2 (the “devtoolset-3” package)
