Printing to Xerox copiers

Printing to the copiers should already be set up on our dept-managed Windows (active directory) and linux systems. These are very basic outline directions for self-managed computers

You can find drivers on the MyPhys downloads page (in the xerox folder), although you may prefer to download the most recent version from Xerox. Of the available options, the driver we use for Windows is the Xerox Global Postscript print driver, which should work for any of our Xerox network printers, as well as the copiers.

  • X-GPD_5.303.16.0_PS_32.exe - for Windows (32-bit)
  • X-GPD_5.303.16.0_PS_x64.exe - for Windows (64-bit)
  • XeroxPrintDriver.2.94.3.dmg - for Mac OS 10.6, 10.7, 10.8

<note warning> You must also set up the print driver to use page accounting, using your MyPhys copy code. If you don't provide your copy code, the machine will print nothing but an error page. </note>

Set up print accounting

Windows

  • Choose “Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron”
  • the User ID is your MyPhys copy code
  • Account type should be “Default Group Account”

Mac OS accounting setup outline

  • File→Print
  • In the printing window, find the popup that includes Xerox Features and click on that.
  • Another popup appears in that window. Find Advanced in that popup and click on that.
  • Then, click on Accounting.
  • Then select Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron and put your MyPhys copy code in the place by “Default User ID”.

Limited linux support

Although printing to these copiers works from our dept managed linux systems, making it work for other systems requires special editing of the PPD file, which is beyond the scope of what we can provide help for on this website.

Printing by web

The Xerox copiers also support printing by uploading a file through the web. This should work for any print-ready file including Postscript or PDF.

  1. If printing from wireless, or outside Tate Lab, first log into the physics web site, to create the needed network firewall opening.
  2. visit the copier print page at either https://xerox147.spa.umn.edu/print/index.php or https://xerox335.spa.umn.edu/print/index.php (note, you may be asked to accept a new SSL certificate to connect to these pages).
  3. use the “Browse” button to locate the file you want to print
  4. enter your copy code as “User ID”. Without this, the copier will reject your job and print only an error page.
  5. click Submit job
